General information for group

Add your latest information here in the box below and then click the Submit Button below it. Normally your information will be added to the site within 24 hours. Don't worry about spell checking - except for place/people names -we will do that before uploading to this site.

Note: if you are unused to using the Internet all you have to do is type in these boxes (i.e. highlight the contents in a box , e.g. "put your name here", just as you would if correcting a word when typing; then then type over with your own words). Afterwards click the Submit button under the message Box.

Specific Topics will be added as you suggest them to the Group.

12 April - Message from WEBMASTER

We have started showing staff working for Stocksbridge how to make simple web pages and manage their own websites (being done on a small group or 1 to 1 basis) - this learning experience is designed for ordinary mortals - definitely not experts at IT.

If you would like to be next, please use the FORM (to the left) to send me a message or email map21@arbeer.demon.co.uk

The way we teach it makes it easy to get started - promise!

11/12 April - Message from Hugh Rolo and Anne's response
It seems to me that.. this DTA Y&H online website... will provide a very user friendly access point to the development trust movement and wondered therefore how easy it would be to have some of the site "open" and some closed --eg -available for members only? ( Anne's response) No problem - we will incorporate password protected pages later as this "research project to assess what DTA Y&H online might contain" proceeds

There is nothing about the DTA itself in the region---tho I love the map with the location of each trust (how easy would it be to do a city map esp of Sheffield with the area covered by each trust shown?) No problem to add a more detailed diagram/map of Sheffield -or of anywhere else - all we will need is a rough map from each Trusts showing the boundaries and any other local data you would like added.

If possible I would like to add a DTA page saying what we do and perhaps with a link say to a paper called Frequently Asked Questions about the DTA. Send the data by email to Anne (just click the name and an email form should appear for you to complete and send) Have the others been feeding back direct???? or will this serve as a prompt. Please lets have some replies

30 March - Message from the WEBMASTER
Our first job is to set up a list of TOPICS you would like to discuss. Can you please use the Reply BOX on the left to make your list of suggestions.
For instance, would it be useful to have TOPICS such as:

  • Grants for projects
  • Sources of materials and equipment
  • Sources for IT training
  • Ideas for new community-based projects
  • Getting the public involved?

If you would like to suggest any changes to the layout of this Message Board at any time - please fill in your suggestions in the message box on the left.

29 March - Message from the WEBMASTER
Please contact MAP21 Ltd if you would like to be trained to manage this website - best done on an individual or very small group basis and will be done in your office at a time to suit you. It is easy to learn and straightforward to do. You can learn in 2 two hour sessions - just click here to send an email and we shall contact you.

27 March - Message from the WEBMASTER
The task of Webmaster will initially be undertaken by STEP. So that it can be undertaken on a rotating basis in the long term, others will be trained to undertake this task during this research project.
Please check your Trust details - to do this click on the name of your Trust on the right and email any
corrections you want made by clicking here . Click this also to add any other information.

These are just some first ideas - this is your message board - say what you would like to see.

Whatever Topics you chose will not be "fixed in stone" - we can change, amalgamate and delete them to suit you needs.

It will be possible to archive all the messages sent to us for your later reference.

  • This Message Board belongs to all the staff of organisations belonging to the DTA in the Yorkshire and Humberside Region - UK. It has been designed to allow the transfer of information and comment between organisations so that all who work for the organisations can know what is happening across the region. It will only be useful if everyone joins in and adds their views/ ideas/ information, as well as messages seeking help with problems, looking for partner organisations for projects and about financial opportunities (ie - grants available for regeneration etc.) and sources of advice.
  • Anyone working full or part time for a member organisation or someone who is a Board Member or involved in some way with another group linked to the DTA but outside the region is welcome to add long or short statements. However, no messages will be accepted for publication without the name of the originator and an email address.
  • To allow for your varying work patterns this is a MESSAGE BOARD not a "Chat Room" (the latter would have meant the sort of facility which allows your comments to appear instantly on screen and an ongoing conversation to occur, but it requires a lot of time on-line so was rejected in favour of this format). The Message Board format means that all your messages are all sent to a "Webmaster" who then puts them onto the Message Board for everyone to read the next day.
  • It is a moderated site - which means all incoming messages have been checked before they are posted to this MESSAGE BOARD. This process is designed only to ensure that messages are from Group Members - it does not mean that the factual content has been checked. The Webmaster and MAP21Ltd can take no responsibility for the content or its accuracy - or responsibility in relation to copyright issues; the latter lies entirely with the original contributor who is regarded as the author. The original author of any statement is required to ensure no libelous content is included. The Webmaster has the right to exclude any messages or parts of messages which she/he has doubts about and to refer these back to the originator for confirmation and correction.
  • At the top of the Message Board you will find a list which summarises the content of the latest messages. CLICK THE UNDERLINED WORD TO VIEW THAT MESSAGE IN FULL.
  • Once the Group's list of Topics has been established you will be able to click on a TOPIC TITLE at the top of the Message Board and go straight to the information that interests you.
Note - this website is at present open to public view - it is not a password protected site yet.
