1969 &emdash; 1974: MSc &emdash; Faculty of Horticulture, Section of Landscape Architecture; Warsaw Agricultural University.

1975 &emdash; 1977: Postgraduate Studies of Town Planning, Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Warsaw.

1987: Doctor of Technical Sciences; Faculty of Architecture, Technical University of Gdansk; doctoral thesis: „Environmental problems in methods of regional spatial planning"

Professional background:

1974 &emdash; 1997: Institute of Physical Planning and Municipal Economy; Department of Physical Planning then Department of Natural Framework for Physical Planning, Warsaw (ten years as a head of the Department)

Since 1997 till now: Warsaw Agricultural University. Faculty of Horticulture and Landscape Architecture. Warsaw, Nowoursynowska 166, Poland.

1998 &emdash; 2001: Ministry of Environment (former Ministry of Environmental Protection, Natural Resources and Forestry). Advisor of the Minister in the physical-planning policy.

Fields of specialisation:

• studies, research and analysis of the environment as a basis for physical development at regional and local level;
• spatial problems of sustainable development;
• ecological networks in local and regional scale;
• protection plans for national and landscape parks;
• strategic EIA (just started to be interested in)

• „Strategic" EIA for plans and programs - concepts and methods (just started).
• Neighbourhood's green areas: changing trends in last 50 years - Warsaw case study (just started).

Possible contribution to the network

• Concept of ecological network for towns as a framework for urban planning - on the basis: B. Szulczewska & J. Kaftan (eds.): 1996 Town Natural System. IGPIK, Warsaw.
• Knowledge of the environmental policy arrangements in Poland (also of documents released in last years).

Faculty consists of two divisions: 1. Horticulture, 2. Landscape Architecture.

The section of Landscape Architecture includes two departments:

The characteristic of XIX palace and garden complexes in Warmia and Mazury.

The past and present of the Konstancin health resort.

Transformation of garden element forms and arrangements along the streets (Royal Road in Warsaw).

The structure of linear landscape objects in the city.

Methods of examination and assessment of tree health condition in urban areas.

Methods of assessing threads caused by defective and decaying trees.
