Profession: Landscape architect (Dep. of Landscape Planning / Swedish
University of Agricultural Sciences, Uppsala, Sweden)
Employment: Freelance (from 1st jan 2003 Phd student at the School of
Architecture / Royal Institute of Technology, Stockholm, Sweden)
Background for WG 1A Human Issues: At the Stockholm City Planning
Administration I developed the "sociotop" concept for mapping peoples use
and experience of public open space in an urban context. The "sociotop-maps"
collect common evaluations of public places and is a product of a dialogue
with the local public. It is an instrument to integrate the everyday life
qualities of children, youths, adults and old people into the "hard fact"
city planning.
Background for WG 2 Policies: I have worked with developing the new policies
for the green structure planning and maintenance for Stockholm municipality,
a "park-program". I have also participated in two major city-planning
projects, where I performed analyses on the supply and accessibility of
green space and life qualities on the basis of the policies. I have also
developed a park-plan (green structure-plan) on the protection, development
and maintenance of parks and green structure in an inner city district in
Stockholm. One interesting conclusion is that the dense parts of the city
district (admired by the "urbanist" architects) have a good supply of green
space and qualities, due to a good city (green) planning (structure).
